TWILIGHT BASEBALL LEAGUE RULES

The Twilight League uses the Sporting News edition of the Major League baseball rules with the following exceptions or additions:

• The National High School Federation re-entry rule. Note that once a pitcher has been removed from the game he may not re-enter to pitch. If he is kept in the game by playing another position, he may come back to the mound.

• The American League DH rule which allows the DH to only hit for the pitcher. The pitcher has no hitting spot and only becomes a hitter if the DH goes to a position. The pitcher then assumes the hitting spot of the player taken out of the game.

• The college slide and collision rule.

• A team may finish a game with 8 players (automatic out for empty slot in order). If another roster player arrives, he may go in to the empty slot to hit.

• A team that has used all of its substitutes may replace an injured player, who is incapacitated, or an ejected player with 1st, a player, who already has played, or 2nd, if no player is available, a non-roster player, either to be approved by the opposing coach. This player may not pitch.

• If one team has a ten run lead after 7 innings of a nine inning game, the game shall terminate. NO 10 RUN RULE EXISTS FOR A 7 INNING GAME.

• A team will be allowed a grace period of 15 minutes if 9 players are not present at game time. If a doubleheader is scheduled and one team does not have 9 players within the 15 minute time frame, a forfeit will be declared for that game and the umpires and teams will wait 45 minutes after the original starting time of the 1st game before a forfeit is also declared for the 2nd game.

• A team who does not have 9 roster players available for a scheduled game may use a non-roster player who is at least 18 years old. This non-roster player may not pitch.

• Use of profane language, throwing equipment, , slamming bats or helmets, persistent heckling from the opposing bench, or other similar actions are cause for immediate ejection from the game.

• Penalty for player ejections (3 strike policy)
    1. First time ejected-suspended for 1 game
    2. Second time ejected-suspended for 3 games
    3. Third time ejected-suspended for the remainder of season

• When a pitcher is ejected from a game, in addition to the above policy, that pitcher may not pitch for 7 days.

• Upon ejecting a player, manager, or club personnel from a game, the umpire will have the offender removed from the playing area which includes the field, bench area, bullpen, and any other area included within the live ball area. The ejected player must be out of sight and sound.

• Penalty for fighting at any time (before, during, or after game)
    1. First time-suspended for 10 games
    2. Second time-suspended from the league for life

• Curfew for a single 9 inning game (11:30 pm)
